If you don’t have a website, Square Appointments will provide you with a booking page online that let your customers book via your online page based on your set availability (or your availability via a synced calendar), then manually or automatically approve those appointments. Customers also are able to reschedule or cancel appointments on their own.
Square Appointments automatically creates a profile for each of your customers. If you already have a customer list, you can easily import that directly into Square. Import contacts from your mobile device directly to the Appointments app, or you can import a CSV.
With this software, you can easily view appointment history, personal details, notes, and purchase history so you’re prepared for each appointment. Since everything is saved, rebooking appointments is a breeze.
Email and text reminders are key to preventing no-shows, and Square includes these features for customers of upcoming appointments and notifies them of changes automatically.
Unlike the other appointment scheduling software, the minute you sign up with Square, you can start accepting credit card payments. It allows you to accept online credit card deposits or prepayments from day one, no added setup or merchant account needed.
Square is its own payments platform. The minute you sign up for a Square account, you can start accepting payments for services and even set up prepayments on appointments. With Square, everything is built-in, including online payments and sleek credit card readers that work via your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
This software also can be integrated with other popular accounting software like QuickBooks and Xero. Overall, Square Appointments offers robust features for supporting your payment processing.

Square provides a free plan with only limitations for one user, so everyone is able to try this appointment scheduling software. As appointment scheduling software, Square has very basic features to make an appointment. Below is my experience using Square Appointments as business owner and customer.
As Business Owner
Square provides very basic features for the business owner to offers services. When I make a service, the service form only contains name, description, duration, and price. And the service that has been made automatically is available for customers according to the staff working hours.
Square let me set up staff working hours through the Calendar with “Customize Availability” feature, or through the “Staff” tab menu. The staff availability can be customized more than one working hours within one day, for example, that staff working hours can be set at 10.00-11.00, 13.00-14.00 and 16.00-17.00. And in the “Staff” tab menu, I can add Staff availability to a certain service, or remove it from a certain service.
When the appointment has been made by the customer, I able to edit the appointment and change the date and time, price, and service duration. Square also let me create a discount for the service, repeat the appointment daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.
The biggest drawback of Square Appointment is when I make the appointment repeatedly every 1 week to a certain date, the price is not calculated automatically. So you need to use a calculator to calculate the total price if needed.
The interesting feature of Square Appointment is the “Invite Clients” feature that allows you to send a marketing email to your customers. You can set the landing page URL, add additional info in the content such as event date, and items that you have to offer.
Square Appointments provides simple online booking page that is easy to use. You can request “Sign In”code with your mobile phone and SMS that contains the code will be sent to your mobile phone.
In the online booking page from Square, I can book an appointment and choose a certain staff. But unlike business owner that can make a recurring appointment, customers are not able to do it.
Square Appointments has everything you need to run your business: online booking that’s easy for you and your customers, a point of sale that tracks customer details, and a secure, fast payments system. It’s all in one place, and the only limitation that Square Appointments has in the free version is limited to one user. However, if you’re a solopreneur, Square gives you every tool you need to manage your client schedule and grow your business, all in one streamlined, easy-to-manage package — for free.
Customer Service & Support
Square does not provide a customer support phone number until you sign up. Square says that current customers can get a code that will enable them to contact Square by phone. You can also reach customer support via email. But remember, if you have a major problem, you probably won’t be able to pick up the phone and get a quick answer.
Pros and Cons
The platform offers a full set of administrative tools, and your clients will find it very easy to use. Users also are able to embed booking into their own website or use free online booking website from Square. The another best part of this scheduling software solutions is the free plan for one user login with access to all features.
If your clients live in a different time zone, this application doesn’t automatically adjust the time zone. Also, customers can’t request to be added to a waitlist and can’t make a recurring appointment like the business owner. Another drawback of Square Appointments is the software provides a very basic feature to create an appointment. With Square Appointments, you are not able to create a class or group event. The mobile app only available on IOS devices.
