Therefore, ClickUp can be used by every type of team to plan, organize, and collaborate.
Table of contents
In our research, ClickUp is one of the feature-rich project management software that we have ever tried. This platform provides almost everything that we need to manage projects and tasks. From project and tasks management to reporting features, all of them are available on ClickUp.
Furthermore, ClickUp is flexible enough to use. Because in ClickUp, the most important features can be fully customized. For example, you can customize the task statuses, adding multiple assignees to the task, and create custom fields for additional task information.

The most important thing that I like about ClickUp is its complete suite of task management tools. And the good news, all these features are also available in the free version.
In ClickUp, you can set task deadline and priority, add multiple assignees, and reordering tasks using drag and drop feature. In addition, you can also create sub-tasks, task checklists, task dependencies, and even recurring tasks.
There are also 4 different view options to display tasks. Firstly, “Box View” to help you easily see who is overloaded and who needs more tasks. Plus, managing resources is as simple as drag and drop. Secondly, “Me View” to see your personal tasks. Thirdly, “Board View” that also called Kanban style. Fourthly, and the last, “List View” to help you get a high-level overview of all tasks across your Workplace.
Another interesting thing about ClickUp is its real-time collaboration tools. So in ClickUp, you will know quickly when your teammates make changes or adding a new comment on tasks.
Just for information, until now, real-time collaboration still rarely found in other project management tools. Many options I’ve ever tried, but until this article is written, only Wrike and ClickUp that provides real-time collaboration tools.
ClickUp allows you to track time through its Chrome Extension. Also, you have an option to integrate this platform with Everhour, Toggl, Harvest, Time Doctor, and more. And the most interesting thing is that the feature is available on the free plan.
With time tracking tool from ClickUp, you can be sure exactly how long you and others are spending on certain tasks. This means no more guessing who worked for how long.
Screen Capture Software
Screen Capture tool can be found in ClickUp’s Chrome Extension. As a software developer team, this feature very helps us in software testing. For example, when our QA found bugs or some mistakes in developed software, it can provide information about software defects by creating screen capture then show the location of defects using the available drawing tools.
With this tool, you can capture the entire screen or select a specific area. When you have done, you can attach it to the task.
There’s a total of seven reports on the ClickUp’s Reporting page. However, except the Task Completed Report, all those reports are only available on the Unlimited Plan. See all those seven reports here.
Like other modern project management software, ClickUp also provides a mobile app to make you still productive even on the go. With this mobile app, you can view your tasks in next 7 days. Or you can view all tasks through “Board View” or “List View”. Also, you can create a new task, adding assignees, set deadline, and prioritize them.
Based on my experience using ClickUp, this software is quite easy to use. In addition, learning about all of its functionality doesn’t take a lot of time. However, there are some features that need improvements to make this platform is easier to use.
For example, in ClickUp, logged time in the list view doesn’t change automatically when I finish recording time spent on certain task using time tracking tool which is available on the ClickUp’s Chrome Extension. Thus, I have to refresh the page to see the changes.
The most important thing that needs attention from ClickUp for the next development is a workflow automation feature. Because some teams really need it. For example, as software development teams, it would be better if we can add assignee automatically when a task has a particular status.
In addition, I think it would be easier if ClickUp adds an additional menu on the task context menu for moving a task to another list.
Overall, so far I am still comfortable and smooth using this platform.
Customer Service & Support
ClickUp’s knowledge base includes online documentation categorized by topic. Also, users can learn more about ClickUp by watching free webinars and reading case studies published on their official website.
In addition, users can reach the customer supports via email, live chat, or by phone. Most importantly, those supports are available in 24 hours for 7 days a week.
One of the best things about ClickUp is that the platform offers a free plan that can be used for unlimited users. However, the free plan certainly has limits on the use of available features. Its limitations include the number of using certain features such as Custom Fields, Goals, Portfolios, etc.
Besides the free plan, ClickUp offers three paid plans – Unlimited, Business, and Enterprise. Unlimited and Business plan prices range between $5 and $9 per month per user when billed annually. While for the Enterprise plan you need to contact their sales for custom quotes.
Pros and Cons
In my opinion, the main advantage of ClickUp is that the software is fully customizable as needed. Also, its features cover almost everything required in project management activities.
Especially the ClickUp’s Chrome extension which is very helpful for software development teams and marketers. For me, the screen capture tool with an image editor is the most helpful feature. Because besides its functionality, those feature is totally free to use.
There are no workflow automation features.
ClickUp is one of the most feature-rich project management software even on its free plan. Also, as mentioned above, this platform is flexible enough to fit your needs. Therefore, ClickUp is suitable for any types of project teams, even for personal use.
